VERTEBRATES  AND INVERTEBRATES





A) Animals with bones are called vertebrates.
There are five groups of vertebrates: mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and amphibians.
Let`s go to see some of them!.



Mammals


Mammals are born from their mother’s womb. They are viviparous.
They drink their mother’s milk.
Their bodies are covered with hair (fur).
They have lungs.
They are warm blood animals.
They have four, two or no legs.
They can live on land or in sea.
They can walk, run or swim.
Elephants, cows and whales are mammals.
They can be herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.



Reptiles


Reptiles lay eggs. They are oviparous.
Their bodies are covered with scales.
They are cold blood animals. They need the sun heat to survive.
They have lungs.
They have four or no legs.
They live on land.
They crawl or slide.
They are carnivores.
Crocodiles, turtles and lizards are reptiles.


Birds


Birds lay eggs. They are oviparous.
Their bodies are covered with feathers.
They are warm blood animals.
They have lungs.
They have two legs and wings.
They live on land or near the sea.
They   can fly.
They are carnivores and hervivores.
Penguins, eagles and goldfinches are birds.


 

Fish


Fish lay eggs. They are oviparous.
Their bodies are covered with scales.
They have fins and no legs.
They have gills.
They live in water.
They can swim.
They are carnivores.
Sharks and sword fish are fish

 




Amphibians





Amphibians  lay eggs. They are oviparous.
They have smooth skin.
They have gills when babies.
They have lungs when adults.
They have four legs.
They live in water when babies.
They live on land when adults.
Frogs and  salamanders are amphibians.
